FINALAustralia - New Zealand 107-52Australia cruised past New Zealand to clinch the title in Suva. The Gems also punched their U19 World Championship tickets. Jazmin Shelley (174-G/F-00) produced 17 points to lead the winners. Australia registered a 49:20 halftime lead. The Gems unleashed 58 points in the second half to roll to the victory. Chantel-Anais Horvat (182-G-98) topscored with 18 points for the winners. Charlisse Leger-Walker (167-G-01) responded with 12 points for New Zealand. 3-4 PlaceNew Caledonia - Samoa 65-75Samoa toppled New Caledonia to earn the Bronze medals at the championship. Aufui Sau (99) stepped up with 8 points and 8 rebounds to lead the winners. Samoa snatched a narrow 32:31 halftime lead. Samoa ignited a 27:15 run in the third term to clear off for good. Cynderella Fanalupe (176-C-99) responded with 22 points and 15 rebounds for New Caledonia. 5-6 PlaceFiji - Tahiti 71-37Fiji rallied past Tahiti to earn the fifth position at the tournament. Losalini Katia (98) was unstoppable with 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge. Fiji rolled to a comfortable 40:15 halftime lead. Fiji held their opponents to 22 points in the second half and marched to the win. Fane Rokowailoa (98) tallied 12 points and 15 boards in the victory. Joy Garel-Laurin (01) responded with 11 points for Tahiti. 7-8 PlacePapua New Guinea - Guam 70-52Papua New Guinea overcame Guam to secure the 7th position in the championship. Svetlana Arthur (98) had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Papua New Guinea. They opened a 34:29 halftime lead. Papua New Guinea used a 24:8 run in the fourth term to ice the winning outcome. Jennifer Haro (99) had 13 points and 23 rebounds in the win. Shania Bulala (99) responded with 12 points for Guam. |
