#1. Experienced champion Romaine Thomas, a 6'9'' forward aged 32, who graduated from Clark Atlanta in 2020 and received the All-SIAC Defensive Player of the Year award that year, currently plays professionally in the Dominican Republic. In the recent game, Thomas, though delivering a strong performance, couldn't assist the Leones (5-11) in securing a win as they suffered a 93-100 defeat at home against the higher-ranked (#5) Marineros. Despite recording 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists in 38 minutes, Thomas and the Leones faced their third consecutive loss as the Regular Season came to a close. Throughout the season, Thomas has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in the 10 games he has played so far. Additionally, it is worth noting that Thomas is a naturalized American, showcasing his talent and skills both on and off the court.
#2. Akil Douglas, a 6'10'' power forward aged 31 and an alumnus of Panthers from 2018, played a crucial role in helping his team reach the final of the SIAC Tournament that year. Currently playing professionally in Australia, he recently led the Sydney City Comets to a resounding 85-68 victory over the 16th-ranked Bandits in the Australian NBL One, the second division league. Douglas, a standout performer, was named the MVP of the game after an outstanding display, contributing 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 19 minutes of play. His exceptional performance against Albury W.B. further showcased his talent, as he once again scored 15 points, collected 5 rebounds, and provided 3 assists to guide his team to victory. Douglas has been a key player for the Sydney City Comets, who currently hold the seventh position in the East group with a 6-5 record. Throughout the season, Douglas has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 17.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in the 11 games he has played.
