We bring you last week's top performances from New Zealanders who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is an international guard Corey Webster (188-88, college: Lambuth, currently plays in China). He led Guizhou to a victory over the closely-ranked Hebei Xianglan (5-1) 129-122 in the Chinese NBL (second division) in Sunday night's game.
Webster was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 42 points and getting 13 rebounds. Webster also added 9 assists in 45 minutes on the court.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Guizhou (5-1) is placed first in the NBL.
It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Webster has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 40.4ppg, 8.0rpg, 6.8apg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 48.8%, 3FGP: 46.4%(32-69) and FT: 92.3%(24-26) in five games he played so far.
Webster is currently a member of the New Zealand senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to former University international guard Zane Meehl (188-86, college: Mid-Continent, currently plays in Australia). Meehl contributed to an easy victory against the second-ranked Sunshine CP (9-2) crushing them 116-88 in the Australian State League (second division) on Saturday night.
He recorded 17 points and added 5 passes in 27 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group QBL. Sunshine Coast Rip (8-1) is placed second.
It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row.
It's Meehl's first season with the team.

He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 11 rebounds.
Diamond Valley Eagles (4-10) are placed seventh in SEABL-South group.
This season King-Hawea has relatively solid stats: 12.8ppg, 6.4rpg, 2.9apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 53.2%, 3FGP: 28.3% and FT: 75.0%.
He is also a member of the New Zealand senior national team.
#4. Forward James Paringatai (201-86, currently plays in Australia). Paringatai could not help Buccaneers (14-3) to beat Hawks (10-8).
He recorded only 4 points in 9 minutes on the court.
The second-placed Buccaneers (14-3) were crushed 97-73 on the road by the lower-ranked (#4) Hawks in the SBL group.
They ended the series of eight consecutive victories.
This year Paringatai's overall stats are: 2.9ppg and 1.6rpg in 15 games.
He used to play for the New Zealand national team

International Forward Jordan Ngatai (196-F-93, agency: MKP Management) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Wellington S., receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 8. International Forward Jordan Ngatai (196-F-93, agency: MKP Management) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Wellington S., receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 8. The 24-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Manawatu J. (#7, 1-9) 79-70. It allowed Wellington S. to consolidate first place in the New Zealand NBL. Wellington S. has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 10-1. In the team's last game Ngatai had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Wellington S., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Jordan Ngatai averages this season 14.4ppg and 5.6rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old American Julian Washburn (203-F-91) of Canterbury. Washburn had a very good evening with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course Canterbury cruised to a 89-77 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Southland S. (#3, 7-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Canterbury consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. His team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Washburn is one of the most experienced players at Canterbury and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third on the list of top players last round was Australian center Angus Brandt (208-C-89) of Taylor Hawks (#5). Brandt scored 22 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Taylor Hawks, leading his team to a 93-84 win against the lower-ranked SC Rangers (#8, 1-10). Taylor Hawks needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 5 lost games. Brandt has a great season in New Zealand. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.1rpg (8th best).
